WHO WE AREMargaret Ritchey, Associate

Mag Ritchey is a retired attorney whose practice focused on estate planning and real estate. In 2016, she was inducted into the Lafayette Bar Association Hall of Fame in recognition of “an exemplary career as an attorney, dedicated service to the community, and participation in the Bar.” During her career she served as president of the Lafayette Parish Bar Association, UL Lafayette Alumni Association, The Mayor’s Commission of the Needs of Women, Acadiana Estate and Business Planning Councel and Goodwill Industries of Louisiana. She was a force in bringing about the repeal of Louisiana’s Head and Master provision of the state’s community property law, and with the creation of the Rape Crisis Center, Acadiana Legal Services Corporation, a shelter for victims of domestic abuse as well as other institutions in the community which brought positive change and made a difference in many lives. Her passion is in reshaping attitudes to a belief that we can have a world that works for everyone and that we have the ability to do so. Her joy is in teaching and public speaking. She taught many continuing education courses for attorneys and gave community lectures on both law and other topics as well as hosting a live financial advice radio talk show, “The Buck Starts Here,” for three years. Mag is a 1971 gaduate of Tulane Law School and is a certified Emergenetics associate.
